Nigerian Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has officially pulled out of his much-anticipated Timeless Concert scheduled for July 3, 2025, at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. This cancellation marks a significant disappointment for fans and the African music industry, as the event was set to make Davido the first African artist to headline a solo concert at the 62,850-capacity stadium.
Davido announced the cancellation via his Instagram story on June 14, citing unresolved “major misalignments” with the event organisers, The Necto Future Group and Iconic Presents. Despite strong ticket sales and overwhelming fan support, he stated that key elements necessary to uphold the integrity and quality of his performance were not met.
He emphasized that the decision was made out of principle and respect for his craft, fans, and the culture he represents. “This decision is not a reflection of turnout or support; it is a matter of principle and respect for my craft, my fans, and the culture I represent,” Davido wrote.
Davido detailed that over the past few weeks, he extended his full support and professionalism to the promoters, but the issues regarding the event’s execution remained unresolved. The singer expressed regret but insisted that proceeding under the circumstances would compromise the high standards his audience deserves.
While the concert will still go on at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, it will proceed without Davido’s performance.
The cancellation has generated mixed reactions on social media. Some fans expressed disappointment, while others praised Davido for prioritizing quality and integrity. The singer reassured his fans that the rest of his summer Timeless World Tour will continue as planned, with upcoming shows in Germany, Portugal, Belgium, Canada, and the United States.
“London, I’ll see you guys soon, I promise! The rest of the shows this summer are still happening. 5ive is still alive! Africa must be respected,” he added.
Davido’s London concert was poised to be a historic milestone, as no African artist had previously headlined a solo show at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The event was highly anticipated by fans worldwide and seen as a major step forward for African music’s global recognition.
The promoters, The Necto Future Group and Iconic Presents, have not publicly commented in detail on the dispute. However, Davido provided contact emails of the promoters for fans seeking refunds or more information.
