“Eid al-Adha: Hon. Tochukwu Ogbodo Celebrates Enugu Muslims, Applauds Their Support for Gov. Mbah”

Muslims all over the world, especially in Enugu State, have been urged to use this year’s Eid al-Adha celebration to show kindness, love to the needy and all, as well as draw closer to God.

Hon. John Tochukwu Ogbodo, made this known on Friday through his Salah message, which he sent to newsmen in Enugu in commemoration of this year’s Eid al-Adha celebration.

He stated that the significance of the celebration goes beyond the slaughtering of rams, noting that it is a season that calls for sacrifice, obedience, and renewed devotion to God, following the example of Prophet Ibrahim (AS).

He also commended the Muslim community in Enugu for the peaceful way they have continued to relate with people of other faiths, while also praising their consistent efforts in promoting unity, respect, and friendship across religious lines, which have helped to make Enugu a truly welcoming and peaceful state. He urged them to continue on this path and remain models of religious harmony.

He also appreciated the manner in which the Muslim faithful have continued to support the administration of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah.

According to him, their cooperation and law-abiding nature have contributed to the smooth running of governance in the state. He thanked the Sarikin Hausawa of Enugu State, His Royal Highness Alhaji Yusuf Sambo Abubakar, for his fatherly leadership and the role he plays in keeping the Muslim community united and peaceful.

Quoting the Holy Qur’an, Surah Al-Hajj (22:37), “It is neither their meat nor their blood that reaches Allah, but it is piety from you that reaches Him,” Hon. Ogbodo called on Muslims to reflect on the true meaning of the season.

He also prayed for peace, good health, and prosperity for all Muslim families and encouraged all residents of Enugu State to continue working together to build a state where fairness, peace, and progress thrive.

The statement reads, Eid al-Adha Message to the Muslim Community in Enugu State
By Hon. Tochukwu Ogbodo

As our Muslim brothers and sisters in Enugu State and across the world celebrate Eid al-Adha (Bakrid), I bring you warm greetings filled with respect, peace, and goodwill. Eid al-Adha is a time of deep reflection, sacrifice, and love. It reminds us of Prophet Ibrahim’s (AS) obedience to Allah and the strong faith he showed when tested. May this special celebration renew your strength and bring joy to your homes.

I wish to sincerely appreciate the Muslim community in Enugu State for the peaceful way you have continued to live and interact with people of other religions. Your friendliness and openness to others have helped Enugu remain a place where everyone feels welcomed and respected. This spirit of unity is something we must continue to protect and grow.

Your support and cooperation with the administration of His Excellency, Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, is also worthy of praise. Through your partnership and understanding, progress has been possible in many areas of governance. The way you contribute to development, engage with policies, and remain law-abiding speaks well of your values and character as a people.

I want to specially thank your respected traditional and religious leader, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Yusuf Sambo Abubakar, the Sarikin Hausawa of Enugu State. His fatherly role and wisdom have continued to unite the Muslim faithful in the state. His voice of peace, guidance, and understanding has helped in building a peaceful and focused Muslim community.

Eid al-Adha is not just about celebration, but a time to show kindness, give to the needy, and draw closer to Allah. As the Qur’an says in Surah Al-Hajj (22:37), “It is neither their meat nor their blood that reaches Allah, but it is piety from you that reaches Him.” May your sacrifices this season bring spiritual upliftment, love for your neighbours, and continued growth for your families.

As you gather with loved ones and share in the blessings of Eid, may Allah (SWT) accept all your prayers, reward your good deeds, and bless our state with peace and progress. Let us all keep working together to make Enugu State a home where peace, justice, and fairness thrive. Eid Mubarak!

Signed:
Hon. John Tochukwu Ogbodo
