The Vice Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), ESUT chapter, Dr. Andrew C. Apeh, has praised His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, for his support of ESUT.
Speaking with newsmen during the 20th convocation ceremony of the institution held on Saturday at Agbani it’s campus, Dr. Apeh thanked Governor Mbah, for his support of the university.
According to him “Today, we have graduates from undergraduate, Masters, and PhD programs who are here today,” he said. “I thank His Excellency, who came here; you can see what makes today’s event unique, especially the award of ₦50 million to the most innovative lecturer who produced an electric stove that can be used to charge phones.”
The recipient of the award was given a grant by His Excellency, and other persons who also received awards collectively gave him ₦52 million, while ESUT Alumni donated ₦1 million. Dr. Apeh stated, “The Governor is not biased at all; the Governor is so generous to all departments and faculties in ESUT.”
Dr. Apeh noted that His Excellency has helped ESUT to ensure full accreditation of all departments in the university, adding that about 98% of departments in ESUT have now been fully accredited.
The Executive Governor of Enugu State has been so generous to the university; today, ESUT can boast as one of the universities striving to uphold best practices, quality teaching and learning, human empowerment, and a focus on the reorientation of human values. ESUT now has additional departments, including Radiography, Human Nutrition and Dietetics, Faculty of Biological Sciences, and Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, all of which were achieved with the help of His Excellency, according to the Pro-Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor.
Dr. Apeh further stated that His Excellency prioritizes the welfare of staff, moving the education budget from ₦4 million to ₦33 million. “All of these are a testament to his leadership impact. These efforts are the way the Governor has been projecting the image of the university; he has done a lot and is very fair to all departments,” he said.
