Families of Deceased Edo Workers Receive N200m Payout, Scholarships from Governor Okpebholo
Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, on Thursday presented cheques totaling over N200 million to 47 families of deceased state workers and awarded educational scholarships to one member from each family.
The event, held at Government House, Benin City, forms part of the state’s Group Life Insurance Scheme in collaboration with Tangerine Life Insurance.
Governor Okpebholo emphasized the humanitarian intent of the initiative, saying, “It is not just about insurance. It is about goodness.
The important thing is that you receive your entitlements because of the painful loss you have suffered.”
The Managing Director/CEO of Tangerine Life Insurance, Kehinde Borisade, commended the governor for transforming Edo State into a model of pension and workers’ welfare, highlighting the state’s leadership in implementing pension and insurance reforms.
The ceremony also underscored Edo State’s commitment to supporting families of deceased workers while promoting education through scholarships, ensuring that the beneficiaries are not left behind in the state’s socio-economic development.
