In pursuit of excellence, Udechukwu Callistus (Verified) has partnered with the Enugu State University of Science and Technology Students’ Union Government (ESUT SUG) to host a comprehensive fitness program, fostering a healthy lifestyle and academic achievements among ESUT students.
The spokesperson of the 15th Parliament and President of Agwụ Local Government Area Students Association, Hon. Udechukwu Calistus, initiated a program titled “Esutites Work Out.” During an interview with News Flash after the exercise, he stated that his impression of the event was that it would make ESUT students physically fit.
“Generally, you find out that in school, our major priority is to pursue our academics, but we also have to get involved, especially when it has to do with our health,” he said. “Anything that will improve the health of every student, we will just have to adopt it. Exercise and workout are meant to improve their health and keep them physically fit.”
He added that the program has come to stay in ESUT. “I have always wished to initiate this program for a long time, but due to some circumstances, it wasn’t possible. Now that we have started it this month, it will continue. I promise it will be a continuous thing – a monthly exercise for Esutites every month. There must be a particular day carved out for Esutites to come out and exercise. So, it is something that has come to stay and for good,” Verified said.
He further stated that even as he is not the Director of Sports, he normally goes out to do his workout every Saturday. “So, I just believe that students of ESUT have not gotten this chance or haven’t had a medium for them to do workout exercises. I see it as a medium that is an opportunity, a regular opportunity, and I know students will definitely queue into it. So, because of that, I just believe that having this program, which is actually for the students of ESUT to be fit, is a great idea.”
Hon. Udechukwu Calistus emphasized that exercise often eases stress and tiredness, reducing the chances of breaking down. He expressed his gratitude to God for the successful turnout, despite the Christmas break approaching. He also announced a thanksgiving mass on December 15th at the Saints Albert Chaplaincy, ESUT, to celebrate the program’s success.
