“Go Where You’re Valued” – Peter Okoye Responds to Fan Who Downplayed His Singing Talent

Singer Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, has responded with a powerful message after a fan attempted to downplay his musical talent by labelling him “just a dancer.”

In a post on social media, Mr P encouraged people to value themselves and walk away from any environment where their efforts are not appreciated.

The comment from the fan surfaced on X (formerly Twitter) under a video of Mr P passionately performing in a studio. The fan wrote:
“Person wey them talk say him no sabi sing say na dance him dey dance na him come Sabi sing pass… false narrative.”

Reacting to the remark, Mr P acknowledged that many people had believed the narrative that he wasn’t a real musician but stressed that it’s important to recognize one’s worth.

“But sadly, most people fall for it. In this life, always know your worth. Don’t settle for less, and never stay where you’re not valued or respected. Respect yourself enough to leave any place where your efforts are not appreciated,” he wrote, adding the hashtag #TheyLied.

Mr P, who is one half of the iconic music duo P-Square, has often been the subject of scrutiny from fans since the group went solo. However, he has consistently defended his music career, insisting he is not just a dancer but a certified musician.
