The Council Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, Hon. Chijioke Ihunwo, states that with the way Governor Similayi Fubara is working, he will be one of the best in the history of Nigeria.
Hon. Ihunwo made this known on Monday when a delegation of Nigerian youths, under the aegis of the Forum of Former State Chairmen, National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), visited him.
Hon. Ihunwo, who was a former Rivers State Chairman of the council, stated that his mission is to replicate what Governor Fubara is doing in Rivers State across all urban and rural communities in the council.
He mentioned that the political crisis in the state has nothing to do with the good works he aims to accomplish for the people, and as a youth ambassador, he will make the youth constituency proud.
“As you can see, Rivers State is blessed with a working governor, whose steps so far are clear that he wants to be one of the best.”
“He is a youth-friendly governor, and I am one of the youngest to lead this local government area. My duty is to work and follow in his footsteps. I will work, work, work, and work to ensure that all the residents in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area feel the impact of good leadership.”
“I am here to protect the interests of the people and make the youths proud. We are aware of the crisis, but with our work, we will make the people proud. We will support Governor Fubara, helping him serve for eight years, as done by his predecessors. It is through our efforts that Rivers people will know we want to work.”
“My administration has outlined programs that will impact our people based on their needs. On-the-spot needs assessments are currently ongoing for all communities, both urban and rural, to identify their needs, and by next week, we will start executing them. I want to assure you that I am for the youths and will make the youths proud.”
Addressing the gathering, a one-time chairman of the council in Cross River State and the Leader of the Delegation, Comrade Dan Obo, thanked Hon. Ihunwo for his outstanding contributions towards the development of the people, especially the youths, adding that a lot is expected of him to deliver.
In his remarks, the immediate past chairman of the council in Enugu State and coordinator of the South East Youth Alliance for Fubara, Comrade Pascal Nnaemeka Ugwu, stated that the people of Obio/Akpor did well by electing Hon. Ihunwo as their chairman. He praised Ihunwo’s dedication, noting the positive changes he has already initiated and his focus on youth development.
Presenting their congratulatory gift to the chairman on behalf of the forum, the immediate past chairmen of NYCN in Niger and Ebonyi States, Comrade BB Sherrif and Comrade Aligwe Samson Esq., urged Hon. Ihunwo to leave behind legacies for which he would be remembered, assuring him that the youth constituency is always available to support him.
“Your passion for community development is evident, and we are confident that your efforts will lead to significant progress. The youth are behind you, ready to contribute to your vision. Your work here will set a standard for others to follow,” Comrade Aligwe added.
Some of the forum members present included Comrade Bellow Sherrif (Niger State), Comrade Osahon Obasuyi (Edo State), Comrade Itumo Chijioke (Ebonyi), Comrade Asheazi Musa (Nasarawa), Comrade Justice Chijioke (Imo), Abdulazeez Ismail Abiodun(Osun), Comrade Ejike Celestine Nnaji, and Comrade Sebastine Chukwuebuka Okafor of Bookastro, among others.
