Hon. Atu Flags Off Major Road Project to Boost Constituency Development

The member representing Enugu North and South Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Chimaobi Sam Atu, has assured his constituents that his representation will yield positive developments that will usher in disruptive transformation.

Hon. Atu gave this assurance on Tuesday during the flag-off of one of his constituency projects, the Eke Market – Umumba – Ugwuaji – Afọr Obeagu Link Road , located at Ugwuaji Awkunanaw in Enugu South Local Government Area of Enugu State.

He stated that the road is essential to the welfare of the people based on its significant economic importance to the residents.

He posited that the road, which is about 2 kilometers, will aid the agricultural revolution ongoing at Ugwuaji and reduce the sufferings experienced by farmers who want to link up from Eke to Afor Market.

“It is an honor to be here and kickstart this wonderful project aimed at reducing the sufferings of our people,” he said.

“I and my team made a needs assessment across our constituency and discovered what each area needs, and this is one of them.”

“Every good thing must start from somewhere, and as we decided to start here, others will follow suit. The economic importance of this project cannot be overemphasized because it will curb the level of pain passed by our people while trying to move across our two major markets.”

“This project is a need and will be replicated in other areas as we don’t want to embark on elephant projects that solve zero problems for the masses.”

Hon. Atu also enjoined the villages involved to give the contractors the necessary support for the project to be executed as it has been segmented in batches, and the speed of work will enhance approval of other batches.

He also reiterated his total commitment to the welfare of his constituents, assuring them that every corner will feel the impact of his representation.

“I urge all our people to rally and give the needed support for this project to speed up. The truth is that it will affect some people, but let us all see it as our own contribution for the good of our people.”

“When the work is fast, the approvals will be fast too. It has been segmented in batches, and other ones can only be done after this one is executed.”

Hon. Atu extolled Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah of Enugu State for his outstanding efforts in maintaining political unity and stability in the state, saying that it has promoted immense partnership amongst all the political leaders in the state irrespective of their political party affiliations.

In their remarks, the traditional ruler of Ugwuaji community and that of Obeagu Ugwuaji, His Royal Highness, Igwe Chinedu Nwobodo Nyia, and His Royal Highness, Igwe Ikechukwu Ogbodo, who was represented by Onowu Boniface Anih, thanked the lawmaker for his outstanding performance at the National Assembly .

They commended his doggedness in attracting projects that will usher in development to the constituency while appreciating the street lights, road rehabilitation, WAEC/NECO registration, and sponsoring of over 14 bills amongst other achievements which he has achieved within 13 months of being a federal lawmaker.

The monarchs assured their support to the lawmaker as well as others who are developmentally inclined.

Also speaking, the Labour Party Chairman of Enugu South Local Government Area, Hon. Chinweụba Ngwu, said he was not surprised with the achievements of Hon. Atu, owing to his track record of being a man of the people.

He stated that such is also a known antecedent of Labour Party members across the nation, a party he said is setting a standard on what governance entails.

In his speech, the Chief Consultant and CEO of Sir Azodo Engineering Services Ltd, Engr. Onyeka Azodo, assured of the timely execution of the project.
