The member representing Enugu North and South Federal Constituency, Hon. Chimaobi Sam Atu, has concluded an intensive training program for youth in his constituency on renewable energy installation, maintenance, and marketing.
The programme, which began several days ago with over 90 youth from the constituency as trainees, drew to a close on Saturday amidst jubilation and thanksgiving from the participants and stakeholders.
Recall that 10 days ago, the lawmaker, in collaboration with the National Power Training Institute of Nigeria (NAPTIN), kick-started a two week intensive solar photovoltaic Installer Certificate Course aimed at providing certification to all trainees.
Addressing the trainees, Hon. Atu highlighted the importance of making the best out of the programme and ensuring that the knowledge gained is not wasted.
He stated that the knowledge gathered, if properly utilized, would empower the participants, their family members, and society at large for generations to come. Adding that it would be a disservice to God and man if anyone refused to make the best use of the knowledge, he said, “I feel very fulfilled that this training took place and that a lot of people in my constituency benefited.
It is left for you to upgrade the knowledge and maximize it judiciously. This is a lifetime opportunity aimed at giving the youth an alternative economic emancipation knowledge that will enhance their growth. When you make good use of what you have learned, you will solve your problem, that of your family, and also help your family solve societal problems. This is a generational economic emancipation programme, and it would be a disservice to God and man if you allow this knowledge to go to waste. A lot of resources were committed to ensure that it was very smooth and stress-free. I would want to hear that one of you is among the best in the service and installation of renewable energy in a few years’ time.”
Hon. Atu also emphasized the importance of following up on their development, as, when that happens, the beneficiaries will apply seriousness to practicing what they learned.
“I will create a WhatsApp group for all of you, where we will be monitoring your progress. We want all of you to succeed, and we believe that it will happen. Please, my brothers, we must make use of this knowledge with urgency and start using it to help ourselves. I hope to see you at the top very soon, as the best and biggest entrepreneurs.”
In his remarks, the Director-General of the National Power Training Institute of Nigeria, Alhaji Ahmed Bolaji Nagode, who was represented by the Assistant Chief Instructor, Engr. Lemi Jonathan, thanked Hon. Atu for thinking home.
He stated that the amount of resources and sacrifices made to get the training done shows how committed the lawmaker is in his quest to improve the living standards of his constituents.
He urged the participants to make it a point of duty to utilize the knowledge gained, as that will make the training a success. Engr. Jonathan also called on all political leaders to emulate Hon. Atu’s vision of youth economic emancipation and adopt the template he used, as it will help reduce the rate of unemployment in the state. He also reiterated NAPTIN’s commitment to partnering with all stakeholders to conduct such training in the near future, while also praising the consultant in charge of the programme, Engr. Chris Ugwu, for a wonderful outing.
Also speaking, the Chief Consultant of the programme, who is also the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Synergy Fields Limited, Engr. Chris Ugwu, thanked Hon. Atu and NAPTIN for the opportunity to showcase what the company can do. He urged the participants to apply the knowledge gained and to strive to be the best versions of themselves.
Participants also expressed their joy over such a golden opportunity, with promises of doing their best to excel.
The event also featured the issuance of certificates to the participants, along with cash awards and starter kits.
