Kunle Botanical Accuses Egungun of Lagos of Betrayal and Exploitation Over Viral Skit Earnings
Nigerian content creator Kunle Botanical has publicly accused fellow skit maker Kuye Adegoke, popularly known as Egungun of Lagos, of betrayal and exploitation.
In a recent interview with media personality Akin Abolade, Kunle expressed deep disappointment over a collaborative project he claims to have conceptualised, scripted, and directed only to be sidelined and underpaid.
According to Kunle, the incident occurred in 2023 when he developed a viral skit idea, oversaw its direction, and allowed Egungun to post it on his social media pages.
The video, Kunle claimed, generated over ₦50 million in revenue, while he was allegedly given just ₦20,000 as compensation.
“He told me the ₦20,000 was just for the stress I went through,” Kunle revealed.
Beyond financial injustice, Kunle accused Egungun of damaging his personal relationships. He claimed Egungun was responsible for a fallout with popular crossdresser Bobrisky, who had previously gifted Kunle a car after he tattooed Bobrisky’s face on his body.
“When someone close to you goes behind your back to tarnish your image before your benefactor, it can turn your helper against you,” Kunle said. “Because of my issue with Egungun, he went ahead to spoil me in front of Bobrisky.”
The viral allegations have triggered online reactions, with fans expressing outrage over the alleged betrayal.
Some users condemned Egungun’s actions if the claims were true, while others questioned the validity of the story, especially the claim that a single skit could yield ₦50 million in revenue.
