Kwara Church Attack: Survivor Describes Chaos as 30 Worshippers Abducted

A shocking account has emerged from the Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku, Kwara State, following a violent attack on Tuesday, November 18, 2025.

An elderly survivor described the terrifying moments when armed gunmen stormed the church, killing three people and abducting dozens of congregants.

The survivor recounted that panic ensued as the gunmen opened fire. The church security officer was assaulted, and worshippers were forced to lie on the ground.

In total, 30 members of the congregation were abducted, and the kidnappers have yet to contact the families.

The incident has sparked widespread concern, with social media users sharing their outrage. A Nigerian farmer disclosed that her cousin and the cousin’s baby were among those taken, further highlighting the human impact of the attack.

In response, the Kwara State government temporarily closed schools in five districts to prevent further incidents, while President Bola Tinubu postponed foreign engagements to focus on national security briefings.

The United States has also reclassified Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” due to rising security challenges.
