Lawyer Deji Adeyanju Calls Mercy Chinwo’s Defamation Suit Against VeryDarkMan “A Complete Joke”

Deji Adeyanju, the lawyer representing social media critic Martins Vincent Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, has dismissed gospel singer Mercy Chinwo’s defamation suit against his client as baseless.

A Magistrate Court in Abuja issued a bench warrant for VeryDarkMan’s arrest on Thursday, March 13, 2025, after he failed to appear in court .

The lawsuit, filed at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, seeks N1.1 billion in damages over alleged defamatory statements made by VeryDarkMan on social media.

According to Adeyanju, the suit is unfounded, and he questioned the rationale behind the hefty damages claim, calling it “a complete joke” .
