Nigerian Lady Ends Engagement Months After Viral Proposal Photos Trend Online

A Nigerian lady, identified as @nor_mad_ on X (formerly Twitter), has shocked many after announcing the end of her engagement to her fiancé, photographer Eddie Ekwere, just months after their romantic proposal photos went viral.

The couple first captured public attention in March 2025, when their proposal pictures circulated widely across social media, earning admiration for Eddie’s striking looks and their seemingly perfect love story.

However, in a surprising twist, @nor_mad_ returned to the same photos on her X page, this time with a different message: “Well e don cast,” signaling the end of the engagement.

Amid growing curiosity and questions from followers, she later released a short video to clarify her stance.

“So I brought out my phone and my mic to make a public service announcement,” she said. “The public service announcement is that I am no longer engaged. I am no longer in a relationship. I’m not going to explain why. I just want to be over and done with the whole commenting and everything that has to do with my relationship. I’m now single. That’s literally the announcement I came to make.”

Her revelation stirred mixed reactions across social media.

  • @OpewilliamsK wrote: “Shouldn’t have made the video if you weren’t going to explain? The online uncles and aunties deserve to know.”
  • @NuJhayhne teased: “Was waiting for the point where you’ll say ‘I’m no longer single, because I’m now married.’”
  • @Alexandaaahh added humor: “My mind is telling me the guy left you because of your forehead.”
  • @imMarvinAgunkwo criticized: “They engaged you, you posted it. They broke up with you, you also posted it. Some things are better kept private.”

Despite the backlash, some well-wishers encouraged her to move forward positively.

The story remains one of the most talked-about viral breakups of the week, sparking debates about love, privacy, and the role of social media in modern relationships.
