NLC Removes Leadership of Labour Party Headed by Abure.

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has declared the results of the recent national convention which saw Julius Abure re-elected as the National Chairman of the Labour Party, as null and void.

This decision was announced following a meeting of the NLC Political Commission Stakeholders in Abuja.

The communiqué issued at the end of the meeting stated that the NLC has no confidence in the legitimacy of the convention and the leadership team that was elected at the event.

The vote of no confidence was passed on the leadership that emerged from the convention held in Nnewi, Anambra State.

The statement, which was released to the press in Abuja, was signed by prominent figures including Prof. Theophilus Ndubuaku, who serves as Chairman of the NLC Political Commission; Mr Abdulwahed Omar, former President of the NLC; and Mr S.O.Z. Ejiofor, Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Labour Party.

As per the announcement, the NLC has endorsed the formation of a Transition Committee headed by the NLC Political Commission to oversee the operational activities of the party on a temporary basis.

The stakeholders came to a decision that the Transition Committee would be responsible for managing the party’s operations until a comprehensive and inclusive national convention could be organized.

It was also emphasized that, upon its establishment, the Transition Committee would assume full control of the party’s offices nationwide.

The Transition Committee was tasked with promptly initiating an asset recovery procedure for all of the Labour Party’s assets.

“The Transition Committee shall also ensure that all the cases of fraud, impersonation, and forgery of government documents pending against a few discredited former officers of the Labour Party are forensically audited.

“It should ensure that the culprits are diligently prosecuted as demanded by leader of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi.

”It is unfortunate that the actions of these few dishonourable characters have splashed mud on the white satin of Labour Party”.
