PDP Postpones Anambra Governorship Primary to April 8

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced an extension of its governorship primary in Anambra State from April 5 to April 8.

This announcement was made by the state PDP chairman, Chidi Chidebe, during a press briefing in Awka on Saturday. The rescheduled primary is set to select the party’s candidate for the upcoming governorship election on November 8.

Chidebe indicated that the postponement was sanctioned by the National Secretariat to finalize essential administrative tasks and facilitate a seamless election process.

He emphasized that the PDP remains the most organized party in Anambra, asserting their readiness to present a united front in the election.

Chidebe urged party members to prioritize the collective interests of the public and the party over individual aspirations. Simultaneously, other prominent political parties in Anambra—APC, APGA, and Labour Party—are conducting their primaries on the same day.

Reports suggest that several candidates have withdrawn from the races in most parties, leaving Chukwuma Soludo as the sole aspirant for the APGA governorship nomination.
