Petrol Prices Drop as Marketers Cut Rates Below Dangote Refinery’s Price

There’s a wave of relief for motorists as major fuel marketers in Abuja have slashed petrol prices, following a steady decline in the landing cost of fuel now lower than Dangote Refinery’s ex-depot rate.

Several filling stations across Abuja have reduced their pump prices, offering slight but welcome relief to consumers.

Findings on Wednesday showed that top marketers such as NIPCO, AA Rano, Eterna, and Empire Energy have adjusted their prices in line with falling market costs.

NIPCO and AA Rano now sell petrol at ₦940 per litre, down from ₦950–₦955, while Eterna and Empire Energy reduced theirs to ₦945 and ₦955 respectively a decrease of between ₦4 and ₦10.

Even NNPC Retail outlets have followed suit, adjusting prices to ₦945 per litre. However, MRS (Dangote Petrol) and Ranoil still sell at ₦950 and ₦955 respectively.

A station manager, who spoke anonymously, confirmed that more price cuts could follow soon. “We may reduce our price in the evening, but for now, we’re still selling at ₦950 per litre,” he said.
