President Bola Tinubu Nominates Engr. Abdullahi Garba Ramat as CEO of Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission
Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo has publicly stated that both Fuji musician K1 De Ultimate and the pilots of a ValueJet flight violated aviation safety protocols during an incident at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
Following an altercation on August 5, 2025, involving the musician and ValueJet crew members Keyamo confirmed that preliminary investigations found serious breaches of safety regulations by both parties describing the episode as a “temporary loss of sanity and control” that risked causing fatalities.
Keyamo revealed that K1 De Ultimate was placed on a no-fly list pending further investigation, paralleling the suspension of the pilots involved. The Minister emphasized equal accountability insisting that the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) act fairly toward all parties.
He also ordered all domestic and international airlines to observe the no-fly directive strictly, warning that failure to comply could result in the withdrawal of operating licenses.
The incident reportedly began when K1 De Ultimate refused to surrender a flask suspected to contain alcohol, which is prohibited onboard Nigerian commercial flights.
After being deboarded he attempted to block the aircraft from taxiing, a move Keyamo described as akin to a hostage situation. The pilots then commenced takeoff procedures despite the obstruction leading to their temporary suspension by the NCAA.
The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority has submitted petitions to the Attorney-General and Inspector-General of Police for investigation and prosecution of K1 De Ultimate under relevant aviation laws.
The FAA and NCAA maintain a firm stance that safety and regulation apply to every individual, regardless of status, underlining the commitment to uphold aviation standards in Nigeria.
This incident has drawn considerable public attention, highlighting the importance of adherence to safety protocols to prevent endangerment of passengers, crew and airport staff.
