US and Ukraine Propose 30-Day Ceasefire to Russia After Saudi Arabia Talks

In a significant diplomatic move, the United States and Ukraine have jointly proposed a 30-day ceasefire to Russia, contingent upon its acceptance.

This initiative aims to alleviate ongoing hostilities in the region following extensive discussions held in Jerusalem.

The talks, which lasted over eight hours, involved key representatives from both nations, including US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s senior advisors.

The proposal was characterized as a crucial step towards peace negotiations to end the nearly four-year conflict that has engulfed Ukraine since Russia’s invasion in February 2022.

We are ready to accept this proposal; we view it positively and are prepared to take this step, Zelenskyy stated in a post on social media.

Rubio remarked that the ball is now in Moscow’s court, highlighting the urgency for Russia to respond positively.

The US has also committed to resuming military aid and intelligence sharing with Ukraine, which had been paused amid previous tensions between Washington and Kyiv.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov confirmed that Russia is currently reviewing the proposal and awaiting further details from the US before making a decision.
