Why I switched from Rap to Afrobeats -Victony discloses

Nigerian singer-songwriter, Victony, has revealed that he switched from hip-hop to afrobeats in order to try something new. The 22-year-old artist said that the pandemic quarantine provided him with the opportunity to discover himself and explore different genres. He also mentioned that transitioning to afrobeats was a challenge because of the emphasis on relatability and creativity in the lyrics. Victony expressed how music helped him heal faster after a car accident that resulted in him being in a wheelchair for a year. The positive response to his collaboration with Mayorkun, ‘Holy Father’, while he was still in a wheelchair, encouraged him to continue working on his music project. However, he shared that he still feels guilt over not remembering the details of the accident and wonders if things would have been different if he had been awake during the incident.
