National President of AGN, Emeka Rollas, (Actor’s Guild of Nigeria), announced on Tuesday during a news conference in Lagos, that the festival would be organized in partnership with the African Travel Film Festival.
According to Emeka Rollas, the main purpose of the festival is to provide a networking platform for Nollywood actors to connect with their colleagues from around the world.
“We will be touring the Telemundo studio in Miami; we will also be exploring the beaches of Miami in a boat cruise as well as get more knowledge through masterclasses on filmmaking,” Rollas said. He added that the festival would hold in Miami, Florida , from November 9 to November 11, to spur cross-cultural collaborations in filmmaking.
Emeka Rollas stated that the festival is intentionally designed to enhance the exposure of Nollywood actors to casting directors and producers from different parts of the world. This exposure is expected to foster cross-cultural collaborations in the field of filmmaking.
Rollas mentioned that this collaboration has the potential to greatly benefit the nation’s economy and elevate Nigeria’s global presence.
Also speaking, Dr Alex Okoroji, Chairman, Organising Committee for the festival, said that the guild was excited to be hosting the festival in Miami.
According to Rollas, this is because the city (presumably Lagos) maintains a vibrant cultural scene and is home to a significant population of Nigerian and African immigrants.
