Adamawa Community Nears Completion of Islamic Centre to Revitalize Moral Values

Published on

The Bako Ward of Yola South Local Government Area is finalizing an Islamic Centre Complex, a community-led initiative featuring a mosque and Islamic learning facilities.

National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, a native of the ward, has commended the project and urged youths to leverage the center for educational and moral development.

The complex, currently 80% complete, aims to address declining moral values in the community through structured learning and religious education. Ribadu inspected the site on Wednesday, praising the collaboration between residents and philanthropists.

Community-Led Effort: The project is driven by local residents and donors, with Ribadu pledging to support its completion.

Facilities: The center includes a mosque, Islamic learning center, and ancillary facilities designed to foster religious and moral education.

Youth Focus: Ribadu emphasized the need for youths to utilize the center to counter eroding values, stating,  We complain a lot about eroding values. A lot of it is because we have abandoned proper learning and inculcating morals in our young ones.

Alhaji Ahmadu Baminda, a member of the Mosque Project Committee, highlighted the community’s resolve to complete the initiative.

We hope [Ribadu] will help us so that the dream of our community to have a befitting Islamic centre is realized.

The Islamic Centre reflects grassroots efforts to strengthen community cohesion and moral foundations in Adamawa.

As Ribadu noted, such projects are critical to nurturing future generations amid societal challenges.
