Renowned comedian Atunyota Alleluya Akpobome, widely known as Alibaba, has recently made a statement asserting that he played a significant role in shaping the jokes told by Nigerian comedians.

The King of comedy revealed that despite his jokes being recycled, certain comedians still feel that he has not contributed much to the comedy industry.

Alibaba shared his thoughts during a recent episode of The Honest Bunch Podcast, co-hosted by actor Chinedu Ani Emmanuel, also known as Deity Cole, and Husband Material.

During the podcast, Alibaba stated, “Sometimes, people claim that I am not helping, but the truth is that 4/5 of the jokes you are currently telling originated from me.”

He further elaborated, sharing an incident where a popular skit maker contacted him after creating a video based on a joke originally told by Alibaba.

The skit revolved around an incident in Warri, where individuals used dogs and cutlasses to confront someone attempting to tamper with their electricity supply. Alibaba had initially shared this joke in 1988, and it has now been transformed into a skit.

Alibaba noted that numerous skits currently in circulation were inspired by his original jokes.

As a result, he urged skit makers and comedians to always acknowledge and give credit to the originators of the content ideas they use.
