The Anambra State Police Command has successfully disrupted a cult initiation ceremony in Nawfia, located in the Njikoka Local Government Area, resulting in the arrest of six suspects and the recovery of weapons, a vehicle, and various incriminating materials.
According to an official statement released on Tuesday and signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, the operation was carried out on June 15, 2025, at approximately 9:30 a.m., following actionable intelligence received by the police.
During the raid, law enforcement officers apprehended six male individuals, all aged between 20 and 30 years. The suspects were identified as Nwadike Chibuike, Anierobi Precious, Raphael Ebube, Ezechi Benjamin, Okafor Chidera, and Chiema Okoye.
A range of items was recovered at the scene, including one Jojef pump action gun, two live cartridges, a golden-colored Lexus SUV with registration number ATN 202 AE, two cutlasses, two pairs of scissors, a cap bearing the insignia of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity, various charms, hard substances suspected to be illicit drugs, and other incriminating evidence.
The police stated that the suspects are currently undergoing interrogation to uncover further details about their operations. Upon completion of the investigation, the case will be charged to court.
The Anambra State Police Command reiterated its commitment to tackling cultism and related criminal activities, recognizing the close link between cult-related offenses and other serious crimes in the state. The Command assured the public that it will continue to intensify efforts to combat cultism and enhance the safety and security of residents across Anambra State.
