APC Announces Chairmanship Candidates for Nasarawa LG Elections Scheduled for November.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State has announced its chairmanship candidates for the upcoming local government council elections slated for November 2, 2024.

Mr. Tanimu Adamson, chairman of the party’s primary elections committee, shared the list of candidates during a report submission to the party’s state executive in Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State.

He indicated that the candidates were chosen through a consensus approach, adhering to Article 20 of the APC constitution after consultations with party stakeholders.

The candidates for the 13 local government areas include:

  • Akwanga: Safiyanu Isa
  • Awe: Umar Dan-Akano
  • Doma: Jonathan Addra
  • Karu: Abubakar Madaki
  • Keana: Adamu Aboki
  • Keffi: Idris Damagani
  • Kokona: Bitrus Agbawu
  • Nasarawa: Mohammed Ahmed
  • Nasarawa-Eggon: Iliya Aliyu
  • Obi: Isa Sani
  • Toto: Murtala Danmadami
  • Wamba: Ezekiel Jaga

Adamson noted that the consensus candidates were selected after thorough discussions and agreement among party stakeholders.

In addition to the chairmanship slate, Adamson reported that councillorship candidates for the state’s 147 electoral wards were also selected via consensus.

APC State Chairman Aliyu Bello commended the committee members for their diligence and timing in compiling the report, expressing his confidence in the candidates’ potential to secure victories across all local government areas.

During a stakeholders’ meeting held on October 7, the APC had agreed to use the consensus method for candidate selection for both chairmanship and councillorship positions. The primaries took place on October 14 and 16, respectively.
