Ambassador Abayomi Nurain Mumuni, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has urged former Kaduna State governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, to refrain from dragging Lagos residents into his current challenges.
In a statement released on March 15, 2025, Mumuni criticized El-Rufai for recent comments where he suggested that those loyal to the APC were marginalized in favor of individuals he described as “Lagos boys,” receiving political positions unfairly.
El-Rufai had shared these views during an interview with the BBC, asserting that the APC government strayed from its foundational principles.
Responding to El-Rufai’s allegations, Mumuni advised him to keep Lagos politicians out of his complaints, stating that his remarks were divisive and unjustly implicated Lagosians.
Mumuni emphasized that El-Rufai’s claims undermined the contributions of loyal APC members from Lagos. He remarked, “It is necessary to remind Mallam El-Rufai about his careless comments. While we were once together in the CPC before forming the APC, he should not include Lagosians in his baseless accusations.
