APC Chieftain Eze Criticizes Matawalle’s Warning to Amaechi, Urges Focus on National Security

Published on

Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has strongly rebuked Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, for his recent admonition directed at former Transportation Minister, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.

Eze contended that instead of delivering what he described as meaningless and baseless threats, Matawalle, previously the Governor of Zamfara State, ought to concentrate on addressing the severe security issues plaguing Nigeria.

Matawalle had warned Amaechi about the repercussions of provoking violence, asserting that the administration of President Bola Tinubu would not allow individuals like Amaechi to incite chaos among Nigerian youths.

This warning followed Amaechi’s remarks at an Abuja conference, where he suggested that Nigerian politicians might resort to “stealing, maiming, and killing to maintain power.”

In response, Eze expressed disappointment over Matawalle’s unwarranted comments towards Amaechi, urging the Minister to prioritize combating the rampant insecurity facing the nation rather than indulging in what he termed armchair threats.

He also criticized Matawalle for politicizing the ongoing bloodshed in Nigeria, emphasizing that citizens have the right to express their opinions in a democratic society.

Eze further asserted that Matawalle, who lacks knowledge about the founding principles of the APC, is in no position to admonish the architects of the party, such as Amaechi, who played a significant role in its establishment.

He lamented the continued insecurity in Zamfara and elsewhere in North Western Nigeria, calling for immediate action from Matawalle as Defence Minister to address the crisis.
