APC Forum Claims Sexual Harassment Allegations Against Akpabio Are Politically Motivated.

Published on

The North-Central All Progressives Congress (APC) Forum has dismissed the sexual harassment allegations made against Senate President Godswill Akpabio by Kogi Central Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, labeling them as a politically motivated attack from opposition parties.

The Forum expressed concern over protests demanding Akpabio’s resignation and warned that they could disrupt peace in the Federal Capital Territory, urging security agencies to remain vigilant.

In a statement, the Chairman, Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga, accused the protesters of being organized to create chaos and undermine the ongoing beneficial relationship between President Bola Tinubu’s administration and the National Assembly.

The Forum also issued a 24-hour ultimatum for the protesters to disperse, claiming Akpabio has shown effective leadership and questioning why the allegations were only raised after disciplinary actions against Akpoti-Uduaghan emerged.

While presenting her harassment petition earlier, Akpoti-Uduaghan has faced backlash from regional stakeholders, with the APC Forum declaring that her actions do not represent the interests of the North-Central region.

Akpabio, meanwhile, has denied the allegations, asserting his commitment to treating all individuals with respect.
