The All Progressives Congress (APC) has branded Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election, as a “prophet of doom.”
Felix Morka, the spokesperson for the ruling party, released this statement on Thursday, following Obi’s remarks during a press conference where he criticized the worsening economic and security situation in Nigeria under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration over the past 18 months.
Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, challenged Tinubu to visit local hospitals to witness the deteriorating conditions firsthand.
In response, the APC refuted Obi’s claims, asserting that the nation’s economy has seen improvements in recent months.
They characterized Obi’s statements as misleading and aimed solely at political gain, stating, “While Nigerians welcomed the new year with optimism for a brighter 2025, Peter Obi appears trapped in a cycle of gloom, misrepresenting the state of our nation.”
