Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has accused President Bola Tinubu of interfering in the Lagos State House of Assembly crisis, urging him to focus on resolving Nigeria’s economic issues instead.
Atiku condemned the invasion of the assembly by security operatives, calling it “utterly reprehensible” and demanding a full investigation.
The crisis began after lawmakers impeached former Speaker Mudashiru Obasa and replaced him with Mojisola Meranda in January.
On Monday, February 17, 2025, DSS officials and police operatives stormed the assembly premises, sealing off the Speaker’s office.
Atiku attributed the crisis to Tinubu’s interference, stating that the president should prioritize addressing Nigeria’s economic woes rather than meddling in state matters.
