The leadership of Awgu Local Government Area has addressed the press statement issued by the Council of Traditional Rulers in the local government area.

In a statement released by the Awgu Local Government Media, a comprehensive response has been provided to the esteemed Awgu LG Traditional Rulers Council regarding the alleged vote of no confidence in the Awgu Local Government Council Chairman, Hon. Pedro Okwudili Nwankwo.

Acknowledging concerns about Hon. Pedro Okwudili Nwankwo’s leadership, the administration finds it necessary to emphasize the commendable efforts made. In the spirit of “A tree is known by its fruit,” Hon. Pedro Nwankwo’s tenure has witnessed substantial progress and development in Awgu LGA. This includes the revitalization of educational institutions, expanded infrastructural developments, and the implementation of community empowerment programs, enhancing the lives of Ndi Awgu. Additionally, successful initiatives such as the enhancement of security architecture, youth empowerment, and healthcare development have been undertaken.

Responding to demands from the Awgu Council of Traditional Rulers, the government recognizes the significance placed on these demands by the esteemed Royal Fathers. Notably, the reconstruction of Awgu Council of Traditional Rulers Chambers is actively underway. This demonstrates the government’s commitment, with reconstruction commencing last Saturday, highlighting the love and value placed on the Traditional Institution.

However, the statement laments the unfortunate exploitation of a father/son relationship by elements opposing peace in Awgu Local Government. Instead of engaging in open dialogue to address potential misunderstandings, these individuals have resorted to spreading false, fabricated, and unfounded propaganda against the administration of Hon. Pedro Okwudili Nwankwo.

Emphasizing the administration’s commitment to transparency and accountability, Hon. Pedro Nwankwo is portrayed as willing to collaborate effectively with Ndị Awgu and the revered Monarchs. Stressing the non-negotiable respect for Royal Fathers, the administration assures a renewed commitment to fostering a harmonious relationship, recognizing the invaluable role Traditional Rulers play in society.

The call for constructive dialogue between the Royal Fathers and the Honourable Chairman has been heeded and is reportedly yielding positive results. The statement urges those opposed to peace to refrain from causing mischief that could jeopardize the existing cordial relationship between the government and the highly placed Royal Fathers, emphasizing that the growth and development of Awgu LGA should remain a shared priority.
