Bauchi Emirate Revokes Senator’s Traditional Title Due to Alleged Insults Directed at Governor Mohammed.

Published on

The Bauchi Emirate Council has recently rescinded the traditional title of Senator Shehu Buba Umar following accusations that he insulted and criticized the State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed.

Senator Umar, a member of the APC, was known as ‘Mandarin Bauchi’ and alleged that the Governor diverted palliative items provided by the federal government.

Specifically, he claimed that essential supplies intended to help the people were sold by the state government instead of being distributed.

A letter dated August 14, 2024, signed by Nasiru Musa on behalf of the Emirate Council’s secretary, announced the withdrawal of Senator Umar’s title due to his alleged misconduct.

The decision was made after a council meeting where his behavior was discussed, and it was deemed to contradict the values and traditions of the Bauchi Emirate.
