Bauchi Governor’s Son Claims Father Won’t Support Atiku’s Presidential Bid.

Published on

Shamsudeen Bala Mohammed, the son of Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, has publicly stated that his father will not support former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s presidential ambitions.

In a response on X (formerly Twitter), Shamsudeen reacted to a user’s hope that Atiku and Governor Mohammed would come together to strengthen the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He revealed that Atiku had previously undermined his father’s 2023 re-election efforts by supporting the opposition and rallying key figures in Bauchi against him.”It would be a challenge,” he stated. “Even if he wins, he won’t do anything for us except settle old scores.

He didn’t back us in 2023—he favored the APC candidate and leveraged Bauchi elites against us. We narrowly escaped that. He has shown that he doesn’t value us enough to even engage in dialogue.”

His remarks point to the ongoing divisions within the PDP as the next electoral cycle approaches.
