Lauretta Onochie, former Special Assistant on Social Media to President Muhammadu Buhari, has stated that Seyi Tinubu, President Bola Tinubu’s son, is eligible to contest for the Lagos governorship seat.

Onochie emphasized that Nigerian law does not exclude individuals whose parents are governors or presidents from running for office .

The conversation around Seyi’s eligibility began after the Lagos State House of Assembly impeached its Speaker, Mudashir Obasa.

Some critics argue that the impeachment was a ploy to pave the way for Seyi to succeed Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Onochie urged Nigerians to be guided by the law when discussing Lagos State succession, highlighting the legal requirements for governorship aspirants.

She also shared a photo of potential aspirants for the 2027 governorship race, including Seyi Tinubu, Babafemi Hamzat, and Femi Gbajabiamila.
