Today marks a momentous occasion as Enugu State Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah celebrates his 52nd birthday. This milestone not only signifies the passing of time but also highlights the remarkable achievements and transformative leadership that Governor Mbah has brought to Enugu State. As we thank God for his new age and wish him continued success, it’s imperative to reflect on the outstanding contributions he has made in various critical sectors, shaping Enugu into a beacon of progress and development in Nigeria.
Unwavering Commitment to Justice Sector Reforms.
Governor Mbah’s commitment to justice sector reforms has been exemplary. Under his stewardship, Enugu State has witnessed significant improvements in the efficiency and fairness of its legal system. The Enugu State justice system is now used as a reference point in the country, as people from other states come to learn and implement our strategies in their respective states.
Revolutionizing Infrastructure: Massive Ongoing Road Rehabilitation Projects.
The ongoing road rehabilitation projects across Enugu State, stand as a testament to Governor Mbah’s vision for modern infrastructure. In just 10 months, Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah constructed and rehabilitated over 45 critical roads in the state out of the 81 he commissioned, while work is ongoing on the rest. Some of the critical roads include Damija, Odudukoko, Monaque, Agu Owo, Premier Layout, Amechi flyover bypass, Ugwuaji flyover bypass, Mount Street Road, Federal Housing Road, Ukwu-Aki Roads in Abakpa (before liberty), amongst others.
Empowering the Future: Education Enhancement and Smart Schools.
Education is the cornerstone of progress, and Governor Mbah recognizes this by investing in the enhancement of educational facilities. The completion and ongoing establishment of smart schools across the 17 local government areas of the state underscore his commitment to providing quality education that aligns with global standards, empowering Enugu’s youth for a brighter tomorrow. He has employed and trained over 2000 youths, all from Enugu State, to ensure the smooth running of this. The completed project at Owo is gradually becoming a tourist center for all, given the quality of the structural design and its finishing.
Addressing Essential Needs: Provision of Water and Economic Empowerment.
Governor Mbah’s initiatives extend to addressing fundamental needs such as water provision and economic empowerment. His administration is currently replacing old asbestos pipes that have made water impassable in some areas. This is also coming after replacing the old pumping machines at water crash project sites in 9th mile and Ajali to make its reticulation more efficient. Furthermore, his focus on empowering young entrepreneurs via Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) is fostering economic growth and creating opportunities for sustainable livelihoods. Over 5000 Enugu youths on fashion design, ENUGU digital skill Nigeria, NG-cares Grants, Enugu sme-leanable training program, Grant by Gị-Nigeria, unwind the east program, amongst others, have been empowered.
Enugu: The Business Hub of the South East.
Governor Mbah’s efforts in attracting investors to Enugu State have positioned it as the business hub of the South East region. Recently, African Development Bank, Jitender Sachdever, Deal-York Group who are constructing a multi-million naira 042 Arena and entertainment park, Afrexim Bank, ₦1bn partnership with Smedan for the matching fund program, have invested in the state. By fostering a conducive business environment and showcasing Enugu’s economic potential, he has brought in investments that drive job creation and economic prosperity, ultimately benefiting the entire state.
A Global Perspective: Putting Enugu on the National and Global Map.
Governor Mbah’s recent lecture at the London School of Economics titled “Enugu State, Nigeria: New Political Leadership; Bold Economic Vision – Spotlight on Health and Education Strategies” has elevated Enugu’s profile nationally and globally. This exposure highlights Enugu’s strategic importance and opens doors for partnerships and collaborations that further propel the state’s development agenda.
Building for the Future: Ongoing Rehabilitation Projects and New Enugu City.
Governor Mbah’s administration has prioritized infrastructure development through ongoing rehabilitation projects and the construction of the new Enugu city. This will also relieve the current pressures observed in Enugu city and provide Enugu with a new and better alternative city. These initiatives are not just about physical structures but also about laying the foundation for a sustainable and vibrant future for Enugu State, attracting investment and creating opportunities for growth and development.
Empowering Institutions: Reforms at IMT Enugu, ESUT, and Others.

With the upgrading of IMT as well as the appointment of the new members of the Governing Council of ESUT, our state’s tertiary institutions are repositioned to compete with the best. Through ongoing reforms at institutions like the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT) Enugu, Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), and others, he is ensuring that these institutions meet global standards, produce highly skilled graduates, and contribute meaningfully to Enugu’s development.
Championing Social Justice: Leading the Fight Against Gender-Based Violence.
Governor Mbah’s administration has been at the forefront of the fight against gender-based violence. By implementing robust policies, raising awareness, and providing support services, he is championing social justice and creating a safer environment for women and vulnerable groups in Enugu State.
