About two thousand SS3 students from 30 public, mission and technical secondary schools in Enugu North and South Federal Constituency yesterday participated in the 2024/2025 edition of Chimaobi Sam Atu Foundation WAEC/NECO and School Fees scholarship held across eight designated centres.
The scholarship exam which started around 8:15 am across the centres saw participating students working hard to ensure their success in the exam. The Chairman of the Foundation and the lawmaker representing Enugu North and South Federal Constituency, Hon Chimaobi Sam Atu, who visited some of the centres, expressed his foundation’s commitment towards quality education.
According to Hon Atu, “the best gift you can give any society is to provide and promote quality education. Our Foundation is committed to this course. We are putting everything together to ensure that every child has access to quality education. For me, this is not just about giving scholarship, it promotes healthy academic competition amongst our children”. He added that all the successful students will have their WAEC/NECO registration fees and school fees paid for by the Foundation.
Speaking to newsmen shortly after the exam, the Chairman of the Education Board, Dr. Chidiebere Ezinwa, expressed satisfaction with the conduct of both the students and their school management. Dr. Ezinwa said the scholarship scheme would have serious positive effect on the psychology of students.
The Vice Principal of Federal Government College, Enugu, Mrs kate Ifenyinwa Anwah, appreciated the Foundation for the scholarship scheme. She added that the gesture would reduce the burden of many parents.
Some of the students who participated in the exam thanked the Foundation for giving them the opportunity to take part in the scheme. Many of them also expressed optimism in securing the scholarship.
