The Conference of Nigeria Political Parties (CNPP) has urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to refocus on genuinely combating corruption.
This call comes after the EFCC’s handling of the Yahaya Bello case sparked concerns that the anti-corruption campaign has been compromised and politicized.
The CNPP condemned the EFCC’s actions as embarrassing to the nation and damaging to the integrity of Nigeria’s democratic institutions.
They emphasized that the EFCC’s approach in the Bello case has been more persecutory than prosecutorial, leading many Nigerians to question the commission’s true intentions.
