Nigerian artist David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has expressed that he does not consider cannabis, commonly referred to as weed, to be a hard drug.
He made this remark during a discussion about his foundation’s upcoming donations to orphanages and its initiatives aimed at combating drug abuse on the latest episode of The Morning Hustle podcast.
Davido acknowledged that some individuals accuse him of hypocrisy for contributing to the fight against drug abuse while admitting to smoking weed; however, he maintains that he does not classify it as a drug.
“This year, I’m making donations to address drug abuse among the youth. I don’t see weed as a hard drug. Some people criticize my use of it, but I stand by my perspective,” he said.
He further emphasized the growing issue of drug addiction, stating, “Many people are facing significant challenges right now. Drug addiction is on the rise, and I want to support this cause to help individuals break free.”
