US President-elect Donald Trump promised to tackle the country’s crises with unprecedented speed and strength in a speech at a victory rally in Washington on Sunday, a day before his inauguration.

Trump, who will be sworn in for a second term, told the cheering crowd that he would start addressing the crises immediately, focusing on immigration and border control.

“We’re going to stop the invasion of our borders,” Trump said, reiterating his plans to launch raids targeting undocumented migrants within days of taking office. He also criticized the outgoing administration of President Joe Biden, calling it “failed” and “corrupt”.

The rally featured celebrity supporters, including Elon Musk, who joined Trump on stage and vowed to make significant changes to make America strong “for centuries.” Musk is set to lead a major cost-cutting drive in Trump’s administration .

Trump’s inauguration ceremony, initially planned to take place on the steps of the US Capitol, will now be held indoors due to freezing weather forecasts.

The ceremony will be the first to take place under the Rotunda’s massive dome since Ronald Reagan’s inauguration 40 years ago.
