In a recent turn of events, Drake, the renowned Canadian rapper, faced a significant setback in his gambling endeavors, losing a total of $565,000 after placing a bet on Tyson Fury triumphing over Oleksandr Usyk in a high-stakes wager.
Leading up to the match, Drake took to Instagram to disclose his hefty $565,000 bet on Fury clinching the victory. Had Fury emerged victorious, Drake stood to win slightly above $1 million.
Usyk emerged as the victor over Fury in a closely contested split decision bout held in Saudi Arabia, hence securing his position as the first undisputed heavyweight champion in over two decades.
Following this defeat, Usyk now holds not only his own WBA, IBF, and WBO titles but has also acquired Fury’s WBC belt.
Drake’s recent loss adds to his previous financial setbacks, including a six-figure sum lost after Anthony Joshua’s knockout victory against Francis Ngannou, and a notable $700,000 loss from Dricus Du Plessis’ triumph over Sean Strickland at UFC 297.
