The Chief of State to Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State, Edison Ehie, has made an allegation that a member of President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet is purportedly considering running against the president in the upcoming 2027 election.
Ehie has stated that the said cabinet member hailing from Rivers State has reportedly been engaged in covert meetings within the state, strategizing on how to execute their potential candidacy.
During an empowerment event in Port Harcourt, Ehie assured the attendees that Governor Fubara and the people of Rivers State are firmly standing in support of President Tinubu. He emphasized that the cabinet member, if indeed planning a bid, should respect the president’s tenure and wait until after his eight-year term.
He said:
“My dear Port Harcourt people, Mr president is interested in ensuring that Nigeria develops, the governor is working in-hand with Mr president to ensure that Rivers develop, and we enjoy a peaceful relationship between the centre and the grassroots.
“We are aware that some persons in the cabinet of Mr president are doing everything possible to hijack the state due to the meetings they have been having to contest against Mr president in 2027.
“The governor has continued to emphasized that Rivers State is for Mr President, so any Rivers son that wants to challenge Mr president should wait till after 2031. The president’s 4+4 is settled, Fubara’s 4+4 is also settled.”
