The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Igboeze South Local Government Area, Barr. Ferdinand Ugo, is currently leading in the ongoing local government elections.
Declaring the number of votes ascertained by political parties, the returning officer for the exercise, Dr. Odoh Longinus, stated that the election was free, fair, and credible. He confirmed that Barr. Ugo Ferdinand scored a total of 52,810 votes, leading his closest rival, Hon. Ogbonna Joshua of the Labour Party, who received 4,247 votes.
Dr. Longinus mentioned that the winner will be officially declared by the chairman of the commission, Prof. Chris Chimdubem Ngwu. He also expressed gratitude to the security agencies for their diligent efforts in maintaining peace during the election and acknowledged the voters for their participation in the democratic process, which reflects the community’s commitment to good governance.
Reacting to the outcome of the election, the former member of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Erochukwu Ugwueze, described the elections as a significant step towards reinforcing democracy in Igboeze South Local Government Area.
He praised the electoral process and urged all parties to respect the will of the people.
Ugwueze emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration among all stakeholders to ensure the continued development of Igboeze South LGA.
