Enugu East Local Government Focuses on Human Capital Development and Optimizing Government Assets

………. As the Executive Chairman Inaugurates Two Standing Committees

The Executive Chairman of Enugu East LGA, Engr. Pst. Beloved-Dan Obi Anike, inaugurated two standing committees on Friday, 11th October 2024.

The first is the Committee on the Optimization of Underutilized Assets of Enugu East Local Government and Other Attendant Matters.

Members of this committee include:

Mrs. Chioma Judith Ugwu (Secretary)

Engr. Michael Okolo (Member)

Dr. Mrs. Joy Uduji (Member)

Sir Patrick Anigbo (Member)

Pastor Polycarp Ugwu (Member)

Arc. Chukwuemeka Anike (Member)

Mrs. Nneka Iloka (Member)

Mr. Clifford Aneke (Member)

Barr. Uchenna Mbaeke (Member)

Hon. Obinna Ogbu (Member)

This committee’s role is to advise the Council on the optimal utilization of physical assets, including the uncompleted secretariat building, the adjoining land, and other buildings on the same property. The aim is to establish a school of health technology or another institution, as may be recommended. They will also explore and recommend viable partnerships for developing the center, intended to train middle-level health workers for primary health centers across the state.

The second committee is the Enugu East Human Capital Development Committee.

This committee will focus on implementing the Human Capital Development Law in Enugu East Local Government. Upon submission of their report, and in line with the Enugu East Local Government Human Capital Development Bye-Law, a Human Capital Development Trust Fund will be established. The Human Capital Development Program will consist of two main components: The Greater Tomorrow Scholarship Scheme and The Skill Development.

Both committees are expected to present their first preliminary report within one month and their final report within two months.

The Chairman urged the committee members to work swiftly toward achieving the desired outcomes for the people of Enugu East LGA.
