Felix Akhabue and Frank Okiye, who were members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have switched allegiance to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Akhabue was a former local government chairman and commissioner, while Okiye served as the Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly until he was impeached.
They joined other defectors at a political rally in Ekpoma, the administrative headquarters of Esan West Local Government Area.
Okiye cited the alienation of his constituents and supporters, as well as disagreements with Governor Obaseki’s principles, as reasons for leaving the PDP. About 2,500 people from different parties joined the APC at the rally.
