Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mba”s first 100 days in office have been nothing short of a transformative journey for Enugu State. Since his inauguration on May 29th, 2023, his disruptive administration has been marked by visionary initiatives aimed at enhancing security, governance, economic growth, and the well-being of the state’s residents.

In these 100 days, Governor Mba”s government has left no stone unturned in ensuring the safety of Ndi Enugu. The Rapid Response Squad cars now dot the streets of Enugu, vigilante groups have been mobilized, and an air monitoring helicopter hovers above. It brings to mind the wisdom of the biblical proverb, “Safety is of the Lord.” (Proverbs 21:31).

Governor Mba’s commitment to excellence is reflected in his cabinet appointments. By placing seasoned professionals in key positions, he seeks to ensure that governance in Enugu is driven by expertise and dedication, echoing the words of Plato, “The first and greatest victory is to conquer yourself.”

Under Governor Mba’s watch, the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT) and Enugu State University of Technology (ESUT) have seen renewed hope. His intervention in addressing their issues exemplifies his commitment to providing quality education to the state’s youth, thus echoing the sentiment of Nelson Mandela: “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”

The pinnacle of Governor Mba’s 100 days has been the International Investment Summit, attended by delegates from 34 countries, including the USA. Their promises to invest in Enugu echo the biblical verse: “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Matthew 6:21) The heart of the world’s investors is now in Enugu.

Governor Mbah’s Enugu State Investment and Economic Growth Stakeholder Roundtable reflects his determination to reducing unemployment and boost the state’s GDP. His vision seeks to elevate Enugu’s economy from $4.4 billion to $30 billion. As Aristotle said, “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.”

The Governor’s Integrated Sector-Based Productivity Growth Strategy aligns with his vision. It reminds us of Albert Einstein’s wisdom: “Imagination is more important than knowledge.”

A pipeline of 30 projects, valued at over $2.1 billion, has been presented. These include specialist hospitals, natural gas-to-power plants, and renewable energy parks. It signifies hope and progress for Enugu, as Winston Churchill famously said, “We shape our buildings; thereafter they shape us.”

The private sector’s willingness to invest in Enugu State is heartening. Their contributions towards Enugu’s economic growth align with the African proverb, “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” Governor Mba is forging a path to a prosperous Enugu with the private sector by his side.

The purchase of advanced digital traffic lights is making Enugu’s roads safer and more efficient. It reflects Governor Mba’s commitment to progress. As Confucius wisely noted, “It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop.”

Governor Mba’s administration has taken decisive steps in reforming waste management. Garbage trucks and waste bins now adorn the streets, enhancing cleanliness and public health. It’s a testament to his dedication, echoing the words of Mahatma Gandhi, “Be the change that you wish to see in the world.”

Attracting the Nigerian Navy to build a naval base in Uzo Uwani is a strategic move for enhanced security and economic opportunities. It demonstrates Governor Mba’s commitment to safeguarding the state’s interests, echoing Sun Tzu’s wisdom: “All warfare is based on deception.”

Water reservoirs are being rejuvenated, and projects like the Ajali Water Project and 9th Mile Water Crash Projects are being fast-tracked. In less than 180 days, Enugu will enjoy improved access to clean water, a vital resource for life and prosperity.
