In a quest for better justice delivery and in pursuant of the achievements of the Key Performance indicators(KPI), the Enugu State Ministry of Justice has organized a one-day training for officers in the Law Reporting Department of the Ministry.
The training was organised by the office of the State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in collaboration with the President Customary Court of Appeal.
Speaking during the training, the Director Law Reporting and Revision, Mr. N. N Anya Esq, while welcoming the participants, said that justice delivery can be achieved if the laws and proceedings are reported correctly.
The Director regretted that the department has been comatose over the years but added that with the giant stride of the Attorney General, the department would soon churn out law reports of the judgement of the state High court.
Anya appealed to the Commissioner to make provision for funds to enable the department on its mandate.
A resource person, T.S.Ugwuja, thanked the Attorney-General for the synergy and mutual working relationship between the Ministry of Justice and the Customary Court of Appeal, noting that the synergy will bring about speedy dispensation of justice in the state.
Ugwuja stated that the training will be a continuous process since the skill for reporting judgement is acquired over time through continuous learning and practice and applauded the Commissioner for training staff of the ministry.
The resource person hinted that topics like the importance of accurate law reporting. enhancing knowledge of law reporting processes, strengthening the collaboration between the Ministry of Justice and the Customary Court of Appeal, and among others, would be taught at the training.
Ugwuja then implored the law officers to ensure that the lessons learned during the training are effectively implemented and contribute to better justice delivery through accurate and comprehensive law reporting.
Barr. Ify Ik-Obi on behalf of the Hon.Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice thanked the Resource person and his team for such an in-depth training.
