Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has expressed optimism that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will secure victory in all chairmanship and councillorship positions across the state’s 20 local governments in the upcoming elections.
Abiodun highlighted the party’s solid performance in fulfilling its electoral promises as a key factor for their expected success. He made these remarks during a gathering with the party’s chairmanship and 236 councillorship candidates.
The governor urged the candidates to campaign vigorously for a resounding win, stressing the necessity of unity within the party at all levels. He emphasized the importance of reconciliation among contestants to avoid divisions that could harm the party’s chances in the elections.
He stated, “I want to ensure you’ve connected with other candidates and fostered a spirit of appreciation and reconciliation. It’s vital we bypass any potential bickering or animosity going into these polls.”
Abiodun reminded attendees that their selection process was thorough, reinforcing that no one was chosen by chance. He conveyed his determination to not let “accidental council chairmen” take office, underscoring the seriousness with which he approaches these local government elections.
He reiterated the significance of these elections for grassroots development and encouraged the candidates to embody his administration’s ‘ISEYA’ ethos, promoting its vision effectively in their communities.
Ogun State APC chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi, also addressed the attendees, emphasizing the necessity of reinforcing the party’s strength and rallying efforts to secure victory.
