Governor Obaseki characterizes Edo governorship election as a ‘do or die’.

Published on

Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki emphasized the critical nature of the upcoming gubernatorial election during the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) grand finale campaign event held in Oredo Local Government area.

Obaseki, who is determined to secure victory for the PDP flag-bearer, Asue Ighodalo, rallied party supporters and Edo residents to turn out in numbers and ensure their votes are counted.

With various contenders vying for the position, including Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party, Obaseki cautioned against potential interference by the opposing party.

He accused the APC of planning to leverage federal resources, working in collaboration with law enforcement and election officials to sway the election results in their favor.

The Governor’s urgency and insistence on the do-or-die nature of the election stem from his belief in securing the future of Edo State by electing a candidate who aligns with the PDP’s vision.

Recent events, such as the refusal to sign a peace accord citing concerns over the impartiality of law enforcement agencies, have heightened tensions surrounding the electoral process.

Obaseki’s call for active participation and vigilance underscores the significance of each vote in shaping the state’s leadership.
