Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has affirmed that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is dedicated to rejuvenating both the party and Nigeria as a whole.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Board of Governors and the unveiling of the Roadmap for the Peoples Democratic Institute (PDI) in Abuja, Makinde emphasized the need for the PDP to provide genuine hope for Nigerians as the nation approaches the 2027 elections.
He stated, “We will revitalize the PDP, and in turn, it will restore Nigeria, laying the groundwork for true hope among the populace.” The PDI, which serves as the research division of the PDP, was established in 2000 to foster a new democratic ethos in Nigeria and Africa through education, training, and research initiatives.
Makinde highlighted the importance of establishing a clear ideological framework for the PDP, noting that the newly inaugurated board represents a significant step in this direction. He urged politicians to reflect on their legacies and their contributions to national progress.
The governor reaffirmed his commitment to bolstering democracy in Nigeria and the PDP’s role within it.
