Nigerian comedian Seyi Law has expressed concerns about the potential dangers of creating state police, suggesting that governors might misuse such power.
In a recent statement, he claimed that governors could even orchestrate the assassination of the President if they had control over state police forces.
Seyi Law made these comments while responding to news that 33 Local Government Chairmen in Oyo State had decided to secede from the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON).
He implied that Nigerian governors already abuse their power and would likely exploit state police for their own gain, leading to potentially disastrous consequences.
He wrote:
“Imagine State Police in the hands of some Governors. They will personally organise the execution of the President.”
