The member representing Enugu North and South Federal Constituency, Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Chimaobi Sam Atu, has kick-started a training and empowerment programme aimed at giving his constituents the needed preparation to be self-reliant.

Speaking during the opening ceremony of the four-day programme, Hon. Chimaobi Sam Atu stated the importance of youth empowerment and wealth creation skills as the sine qua non to eradicating poverty.

He stated that he is committed to giving Enugu North and South Federal Constituency the needed representation that will attract development.

Hon. Atu enjoined all participants to make maximum use of the opportunity presented and learn from the training instead of seeing it as a federal government affair.

He also admonished governments at all levels to deploy skill acquisition to combat insecurity and youth unemployment, which he said were responsible for the high rate of crime.

In his remarks, the Head of Accreditation and Curriculum Department, Centre for Management and Development, Abuja, Dr. Francis Iyanga, who was represented by Haruna Marouk, stated that the entrepreneurial skills programme was in line with the strategies of the Federal Government towards wealth creation and poverty reduction in Nigeria.

He urged all the lucky participants to utilize the opportunity and become wealth creators instead of being dependents on others.

However, the five-day training and empowerment programme organized by Hon. Chimaobi Sam Atu in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security is currently accommodating 150 students of Senior Secondary School and fresh school leavers in his constituency.
